How did we trade against one kind of incoming attack
“We only get wrecked by siege” or “our ground is bad” is usually an average of different attacks. Siege, ranged, mounted, and ground are different exams. The mailbox is not filed that way.
By hand
You would tag every incoming hit by what they sent, then recompute the same defense table four times. People tag the hits they remember. The rest get folded into “defense was rough.”
What becomes practical
Stay on the defense slice you already care about. Ask for the same metrics split by the troop type that hit you. That splits these defenses by what hit you. It does not switch you over to your own attacks.
The reading
Each column on this matrix is one incoming type against one defending troop type: ground, ranged, mounted, siege. Each row is the defending tier. Effectiveness in the cell is that layer’s trade against that incoming type only. Where the cell is blank, that combination was not in the imported holds.
The claim to test is narrow. If one incoming type is the problem, it shows up as a column, across the tiers you actually fielded — not as a mood about the whole night. A defending troop type can be fine against one column and poor against another. Saying “by troop type” without saying whose type mixes your attacks with their attacks. Say incoming, or what they sent.
This is still one sample of imported defenses. It does not say what you would have done if a different type had hit. It says how these holds traded against the types that did.
Why it matters on the next battlefield
You reinforce, bubble, or change a preset for the attack you are actually losing, or you discover you are not losing to that attack and the last hit misled you. Those are different orders on voice.
Ask it on yours
Focus the defenses. Ask to split the table by the troop type that hit you, or how you traded against incoming siege versus incoming ranged. Family: incoming-type splits. If the follow-up is what to train, that is a different question on the same slice: what should we train after those defenses.
Split the holds by what actually hit you.
